It’s not easy to travel the world. Besides the scratch you need to board a plane, train, bus or boat, you also need a lot of time. We have a way to take care of that. The annual “Bringing the World to You” international trade event takes place from 9 a.m. through 4 p.m. at Iacocca Hall on the Mountaintop Campus of Lehigh University. “World to You” is the Lehigh Valley’s top international event. It will feature 19 of Pennsylvania’s international trade representatives that will be avaliable to meet with you or your business. It’s a valuable event and good way to learn some information without spending a lot of money. The conference is a partnership between LVEDC and Lehigh University’s Small Business Development Center. • Business retention interviews probe for answers

    By Steve Althouse 4/12/2011 5:26pm

LVEDC administers the Business Retention and Expansion Program (BREP) in the Lehigh Valley by meeting senior level managers within the business community.  While the BREP interviews are brief, they often are very illuminating. BREP fundamentally has two goals. One is to meet with businesses of all sizes throughout the Lehigh Valley and identify concerns and trends to analyze existing business conditions. This assists LVEDC in providing local input in creating future policy at both the state and local levels. The second is to ascertain how LVEDC or any of our public partners can support the growth and development of businesses across the Lehigh Valley that we serve. What are some examples? Expansion plans, obtaining financing, corporate site selection, workforce development or something more unique, such as public transportation or zoning issues. Sort of like a doctor who is probing to find the patient’s problem, so they can dispense the cure.
